Ancient Rock Art Discovered in Colombian Amazon

A recent expedition in the Paru rainforest reserve aimed to reach the tallest tree in the Amazon but was thwarted by natural obstacles, leading researchers to discover a sanctuary of giant trees instead. Meanwhile, archaeologists in Colombia uncovered ancient ochre paintings at Cerro Azul hill, dating back 12,500 years, which provide insights into the diet and mythology of early Amazonian humans. The extensive rock art features over 3,200 images that depict a variety of animals and mythological transformations, highlighting complex relationships between these early inhabitants and their environment.
