LSU's No. 7 softball team continued its strong start to the season, achieving three consecutive victories against ranked opponents during the Purple and Gold Classic. The Tigers defeated No. 22 Northwestern 7-1 and No. 17 Virginia Tech 7-2, with standout performances from pitchers Jayden Heavener and Sydney Berzon, who collectively delivered impressive strikeout counts and shutout innings. LSU's offense was a key factor, producing 23 hits over the weekend, with multiple players contributing RBIs, including McKenzie Redoutey and Danieca Coffey. Coach Beth Torina praised the team's aggressive base running and errorless defense, which pressured their opponents into mistakes. Tatum Clopton also showcased her skills with a complete game shutout against UT Arlington, further solidifying LSU's pitching depth.
