Fire Departments Extinguish Trash Fires at Knoxville, Carson City Facilities

Fire departments in both Carson City and Knoxville responded to trash fires at their respective solid waste facilities on Sunday. In Carson City, a relatively small mulch pile fire measuring approximately 20 by 40 feet was reported and contained with no significant spread. Knoxville Fire Department arrived shortly after 2:30 p.m. to a fire at the city's solid waste facility, where smoke was visible from the sorting building; the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes with the help of the city's solid waste and public service teams. Investigators in Knoxville are working to determine the cause of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Both incidents highlight effective and swift responses by fire teams to contain fires in waste facilities, preventing further damage or injury. Additionally, Knoxville fire crews recently managed to prevent a gas station fire from becoming worse earlier the same day.
