Flyers Reassign Jett Luchanko to Guelph Storm

The Philadelphia Flyers have reassigned rookie center Jett Luchanko to his junior team, the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League, following a challenging start to the NHL season. Luchanko, the 13th overall pick in the 2024 draft, played four games without registering a point and was rated minus-3. Despite a promising preseason, the Flyers, under pressure from a 1-5-1 start, decided it was best for Luchanko's development to continue in the OHL. General Manager Daniel Briere emphasized the decision was made with Luchanko's long-term growth in mind, expecting him to potentially return to the Flyers roster in future seasons. The move follows the Flyers' struggle to overcome a four-year postseason drought, aiming to develop young talents like Luchanko and Matvei Michkov, who currently leads the team in points. Luchanko may join Team Canada for the World Junior tournament later this year.
