Netflix Commissions Turney Documentary, Restores Broadchurch

Netflix has commissioned a factual documentary from the creators of American Murder: Gabby Petito investigating the 2001 disappearance of 17-year-old Alissa Turney, who vanished in Phoenix after a reported argument; her phone and belongings were left behind, a note suggested she ran away, a later call from California raised questions, and suspicion eventually fell on her adoptive father, Michael Turney. The streamer has added the 2024 crime drama Parish to its catalogue, a series that received mixed reviews but has been widely praised as a showcase for Giancarlo Esposito’s lead performance and its driving and action sequences. Netflix will reintroduce the acclaimed three-season British murder mystery Broadchurch to its U.S. lineup on November 18, 2025; the series stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman, was pulled from Netflix in 2021, previously circulated on platforms including BritBox, PBS Masterpiece, Peacock and Prime Video, and its seasons hold roughly 94%, 84% and 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.
