Christina Applegate Shares MS Hospitalizations and Struggles

Christina Applegate has revealed that she now rarely leaves her house due to the debilitating symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS), which she discussed on the 'Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend' podcast. Diagnosed in 2021, Applegate described MS as the worst challenge she has faced, sharing that she has been hospitalized over 30 times for symptoms including severe pain, numbness, vision changes, and muscle weakness. She addressed the stigma and misunderstandings related to MS, including unsolicited advice and blame from others, while highlighting the significant mental and physical burden of the disease. Applegate was joined by her cohost Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also lives with MS, to emphasize the daily difficulties faced by those with the progressive autoimmune disorder. MS affects millions of people worldwide, with symptoms that can sometimes remit, but there is currently no cure. Despite her struggles, Applegate continues to advocate for chronic illness awareness and honesty about living with MS.
