Stellantis Appoints Gilles Vidal Head of European Design Starting October

Stellantis has appointed Gilles Vidal as the new head of design for its European brands, including Peugeot, Fiat, Citroen, and Opel, effective October 1. Vidal, who previously spent 25 years at Citroën and Peugeot and more recently five years with Renault, is renowned for his innovative design approach and has won multiple European Car of the Year awards. His work on successful models such as the Peugeot 308, 3008, and 208, as well as Renault's electric Scenic and Rafale coupe, underscores his ability to blend innovation with brand heritage. Stellantis aims to leverage Vidal's expertise to revitalize its European lineup, carve out distinct brand identities, and regain market share amid stiff competition and the shift toward electric vehicles. Reporting to Jean-Philippe Imparato and collaborating closely with Ralph Gilles, Vidal's appointment signals a strategic move to enhance Stellantis' creative direction and strengthen its position in the European automotive market.
