Lionsgate, Starz Extend Theatrical Deal Before Split

Lionsgate has extended its multi-year theatrical output agreement with Starz as both companies prepare for a full separation into distinct entities. Under the new terms, Starz will retain exclusive rights to Lionsgate’s theatrical films in the first pay-TV and SVOD windows, with an accelerated release schedule that brings films to Starz closer to their theatrical debuts. The deal also adds a third exclusive window while maintaining an exclusive second window for Starz. Upcoming titles include major releases such as 'Now You See Me 3,' 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,' the Michael Jackson biopic, and 'Ballerina.' Executives from both companies have expressed confidence in the continued value of Lionsgate films on Starz's platform. The separation will lead to the establishment of two publicly traded companies, with Lionsgate Studios and Starz Entertainment Corp. being formed.
