Channel 4 has canceled 'The Gathering', an award-winning drama series, after just one season due to changes in leadership and priorities at the network, despite its strong ratings and critical acclaim. The psychological thriller, set in Merseyside, explored the aftermath of a teenager's assault at a rave, revealing deep-seated community secrets. It starred Warren Brown, who won Best Actor at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, and Eva Morgan, who won Best Actress, with the show also taking Best Series. Despite its success, some viewers criticized the show for its portrayal of abusive relationships, particularly between a pushy mother and her daughter. Executive producer Simon Heath highlighted that the series performed well but acknowledged new management led to its cancellation.
