Ethel Cain Releases Single Nettles Confirms August Album
Ethel Cain has announced her sophomore album, "Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You," set for release on August 8, 2025. The album serves as a prequel to her 2022 debut, "Preacher’s Daughter," exploring the story of her first love, Willoughby Tucker, with songs written over several years. The lead single, "Nettles," is an eight-minute Americana slow-burn that reflects themes of lost love and hope, written during the first week Cain moved into the Alabama house where she finished her debut album. Cain wrote, produced, and mixed the track herself, contributing multiple instruments, and described the song as a dream of losing a loved one while asking for reassurance and envisioning a shared future. To support the album, Cain will embark on a North American and European tour starting in August 2025. This release follows her experimental ambient project, "Perverts," which received critical acclaim earlier this year.
