Ajman Police Imposes Immediate Ban on Electric Scooters on Public Roads

Ajman authorities have imposed an immediate and comprehensive ban on all types of electric scooters on public roads and streets, aiming to enhance traffic safety and reduce accidents involving scooters. This decision follows a prior advisory cautioning e-scooter and e-bike riders to adhere to traffic rules, as well as a notable increase in traffic violations and accidents, with 254 incidents involving e-scooters and bicycles recorded in Ajman in 2024 alone, resulting in fatalities and injuries. The ban affects both privately owned and rented scooters, with violations subject to fines and vehicle confiscation, though specific penalties have not been detailed. The move reflects broader safety concerns across the UAE, where reckless e-scooter use has led to multiple fatalities, including 13 deaths in Dubai in early 2025.
