Maduro's Party Sweeps Venezuela Parliamentary, Regional Elections

In Venezuela's July 2024 elections, President Nicolas Maduro's United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) achieved a decisive victory, winning 82.68% of the National Assembly votes and 23 out of 24 governor positions. The ruling party's win ensures control over the attorney general's office and the top court, with participation from over 6,600 candidates across 54 political organizations. Voter turnout was approximately 42.66% of 21.4 million registered voters, consistent with previous elections. Despite the opposition's call for a boycott and claims that they had actually won, Maduro dismissed these claims, emphasizing the ruling party's advance due to the opposition's withdrawal.
