Chicago Officer Krystal Rivera Killed by Friendly Fire Funeral Planned

Funeral services for Chicago Police Officer Krystal Rivera, who was tragically killed by friendly fire during a police pursuit earlier this month in the Chatham neighborhood, are scheduled for June 24-25. Visitation will be held at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park. Officer Rivera was unintentionally shot in the back by a fellow officer while pursuing an armed suspect, Adrian Rucker, who has been charged with armed violence and other offenses. Body camera and security footage showed Rucker pointing a rifle at officers during the incident. Rivera was a four-year veteran of the department and a mother to a young daughter. Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling and other officials have publicly mourned her loss, emphasizing the tragic nature of the friendly fire shooting.
