Wildfires Spread Across Northern California, Containment Grows

Wildfires caused by lightning strikes continue to impact Northern California, with the Green Fire near Shasta Lake burning 8,395 acres at 0% containment and prompting mandatory evacuations. Statewide, lightning in 2024 has sparked hundreds of fires, resulting in over 90,000 acres burned. The Marble Complex Fire in Klamath National Forest has grown to 752 acres and is now 40% contained, while another nearby wildfire has reached 575 acres with 10% containment and evacuations in effect. Hot, dry weather and gusty winds are fueling fire growth and smoke, complicating firefighting efforts.
