Three Men Sentenced to Life for Murdering Teens in Philadelphia

Three men, Rayfiq Tiggle, Tariq Chambers, and Isaiah Jones, were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for their roles in the 2021 ambush shooting of two teenagers, Nasir Brooks and Steven Griffin, in West Philadelphia. The men were convicted of first-degree murder after they planned and executed a shooting, firing 16 shots at the victims as they walked by. District Attorney Larry Krasner noted the city's homicide rate has decreased but emphasized the ongoing tragedy of gun violence. The defendants were apprehended in December 2022 after police traced their vehicle and cellphone data linked them to the crime scene. In a separate case, two men were sentenced for their involvement in a 2023 shooting that resulted in a man's death, with one receiving a four-year sentence and the other ten years. These cases highlight the persistent issue of gun violence in American cities.
