Texas Bollywood Couple Faces $4M Fraud Felony Charges

Sidhartha “Sammy” Mukherjee and his wife Sunita, known for their Bollywood-style performances and community prominence in Texas, have been charged with orchestrating a $4 million real estate fraud scheme that duped over 100 investors. The couple gained victims' trust through glamorous events and fabricated documents, including forged contracts falsely claiming approval from the Dallas Housing Authority, as well as submitting fraudulent applications for federal Paycheck Protection Program loans with fake employees. Authorities uncovered a complex web of deceit involving counterfeit invoices, fake property projects, and threatening emails targeting elderly victims. Despite their public persona, law enforcement officials describe the Mukherjees as among the most prolific fraudsters encountered, with forensic accountants tracing significant financial losses linked to their operations. After their June arrest, Sunita was released on bail while Sammy remains detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The couple faces potential sentences ranging from five to 99 years if convicted, and investigations continue into the full extent of their fraudulent activities.
