UK Reports 61,343 Vehicle Thefts in 2024

In 2024, vehicle thefts in the U.S. experienced a significant decline, marking the first decrease in five years, with over 850,700 vehicles reported stolen, down from more than one million in 2023. This trend reflects a broader national decrease in vehicle thefts, including a 26% drop in Tennessee, where Hyundai models remain popular targets due to their vulnerabilities. Despite these improvements, a car is still stolen every 38 seconds in the U.S., indicating that prevention remains crucial. Experts recommend practical measures such as locking vehicles and removing keys to minimize risks, as many thefts are preventable. The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) highlights that while theft rates have decreased, certain regions like Washington D.C., California, and New Mexico still report high theft rates.
