Man Sentenced for Assaulting Former Senator McSally

Dominic Henton, 26, has been sentenced to 360 days in jail for the assault of former U.S. Senator Martha McSally during her visit to Council Bluffs, Iowa, in November 2023. McSally reported that Henton attacked her while jogging, following her across a pedestrian bridge and attempting to molest her; she managed to fight him off and chase him into the brush. Henton received credit for 90 days already served and will also undergo two years of probation, register as a sex offender for ten years, and participate in a treatment program. McSally expressed her belief that Henton should have received a longer sentence, highlighting the trauma caused by the attack.
