The incident occurred after Pearsall was approached by a 17-year-old suspect who tried to steal his Rolex watch, leading to a struggle that resulted in gunfire injuring both parties. Pearsall's mother reported that the bullet exited his back without hitting any vital organs, expressing gratitude for his survival. San Francisco Police Chief William Scott stated that there is no evidence to suggest Pearsall was targeted due to his status as an NFL player. The suspect has been arrested and is also in stable condition following the incident. Pearsall, who was the 31st pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, previously played for Florida after transferring from Arizona State.
