Injured Worker Rescued From Hohokam Stadium Light Pole, Mesa

Emergency responders conducted a rescue operation to help an injured worker stuck atop a light pole at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa on September 4, 2025. The worker, who was replacing lights on the north side of the stadium, sustained a head injury and was unable to descend on his own. Rescue crews from Mesa, Phoenix, and Tempe used a firetruck lift and climbing techniques to reach him, then secured him with a zipline-type system to safely lower him to the ground. Throughout the rescue, the worker remained conscious and communicative. Hohokam Stadium, located between Brown and McKellips roads, is the spring training home of the Athletics. Authorities provided prompt medical attention following the successful rescue.
