Buttonwood Nature Center Hosts Winter StoryWalk

Buttonwood Nature Center is launching a new seasonal StoryWalk series, starting with an event on February 9 at Pine Hill Recreation Area, aimed at preschool and elementary-aged children. Participants will enjoy reading 'Hibernation Station' by Michelle Meadows along a story trail, with activities and s'mores available afterward. The initiative, which is free and does not require registration, is part of Buttonwood's effort to engage families with nature through storytelling and interactive experiences. This seasonal program is designed to take place four times a year, showcasing different books and activities for each event. The StoryWalk project, which originated in Vermont, has been adapted by various organizations, including the Baxter County Library, which is also hosting a similar event featuring 'How to Catch a Yeti' in January. Both initiatives aim to foster a love for reading while connecting families with the outdoors.
