Eugene Girard and his son Matthew from Norwood, Massachusetts, won a combined $800,000 in the Massachusetts State Lottery's midday Mass Cash drawing by matching all five numbers on eight tickets Eugene purchased. Eugene claimed $700,000 from seven winning tickets, while Matthew received $100,000 from one ticket gifted by his father. Eugene plans to use his winnings to buy a car, improve his home, and save money, while Matthew intends to buy a car and invest his prize. This win adds to Eugene's lottery success, as he previously won $1 million on an instant ticket in 2008. All winning tickets were bought at Pam's Market on Pleasant Street in Norwood, which received an $8,000 bonus for selling the tickets. The midday Mass Cash drawing, introduced in August 2025, is held twice daily at 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.
