Three charged for threats against Pembroke Pines school
Three individuals, including two teenagers, have been charged in connection with a threat made against Somerset Academy in Pembroke Pines on November 9, 2024. The suspects are 15-year-old Logan James Gollinger from New York, 14-year-old Juan Antonio Banos from Michigan, and Gollinger's mother, Elizabeth Smith. Gollinger was arrested in New York on January 3 and is awaiting extradition to Florida, while Banos surrendered to authorities on January 15. Both boys face charges related to making threats and disrupting an educational institution, while Smith is charged with solicitation to commit tampering with evidence, having allegedly instructed her son to delete incriminating information. The police have not disclosed the specifics of the threats but emphasized the seriousness of such actions against school campuses. Authorities urge parents to actively monitor their children's online activities to prevent similar incidents.
