NHL Announces Quarter-Century Teams Selection Process

The NHL is set to honor its top players from the past 25 years with the introduction of Quarter-Century Teams for all 32 franchises. Starting December 30, 2024, and continuing through January 31, 2025, the league will announce both First and Second Quarter-Century Teams, each consisting of three forwards, two defensemen, and one goaltender, selected by a panel of media, retired players, and executives. Following this, a fan vote from February 12 to February 26, 2025, will determine the NHL Quarter-Century Team, comprising the top 25 players from the last quarter-century, regardless of position. Players must have appeared in a game for their franchise since January 1, 2000, to be eligible. The initiative aims to engage fans in discussions about the best players of the era and will feature a robust content campaign across NHL platforms. The results of the fan vote will be announced at a later date, with accompanying debate-style shows planned for March.
