Virginia Republican candidate for lieutenant governor John Reid is embroiled in controversy after a Tumblr blog linked to him, using the handle JRDeux, was found to have shared deeply offensive and racist content fetishizing Nazism, white supremacy, and sexual violence. The blog, dating back to 2014 before Reid's political career, reposted disturbing images from accounts promoting white power symbols and racial slurs, including swastika tattoos and homophobic slurs. Reid denies ownership of the blog, asserting the allegations are a coordinated smear campaign targeting him as a gay Republican. Despite Governor Glenn Youngkin previously urging Reid to drop out over sexually explicit posts, Youngkin has not commented on whether he continues to support Reid amid the new revelations. Virginia Democrats and others have called for Reid to suspend his campaign, criticizing the hateful and racist imagery linked to the accounts he engaged with. The blog was deleted following reports, but the content was recovered and has intensified scrutiny of Reid's candidacy and character.
