Indian Wells Tennis Tournament Sets Record 504,268 Attendance
The Indian Wells Tennis Tournament has set a new attendance record with 504,268 fans attending the event, surpassing last year's record of 493,440. The tournament, held in California's Indian Wells Tennis Garden, is highly regarded as the unofficial fifth Grand Slam and has been voted the favorite ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 event for the last decade. French bank BNP Paribas has renewed its title sponsorship with the tournament through 2029. The singles titles this year were won by Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva and English player Jack Draper. Since American billionaire Larry Ellison purchased the tournament in 2009, it has undergone significant transformations and investments, earning the nickname 'Tennis Paradise.' The event continues to draw tennis enthusiasts every March, highlighting its status as a premier destination for the sport.
