Thailand Bombing at Festival Kills Three

Thai authorities have arrested two suspects following a bombing at a festival in Umphang, Tak province, which killed three people and injured at least 48 others. The improvised explosive device detonated during an outdoor performance attended by approximately 8,000-9,000 people, shortly before midnight on Friday. Local police indicated that the bombing was linked to a confrontation between rival groups, with forensic evidence confirming the use of a homemade bomb. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra extended condolences to the victims' families and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. Despite the violence, officials have stated that there is no broader security threat in the area, which has a significant military presence.
