Ohio Firefighters Rescue Man Trapped 10 Hours Underground
A 30-year-old man was rescued after spending about 10 hours trapped in a drainage pipe in Clinton, Ohio, late Monday night. Multiple emergency agencies, including the Clinton, Green, and New Franklin fire departments, responded to the incident, using specialized cameras and a robotic device to locate the man approximately 450 feet from where he entered the pipe. Rescuers utilized a backhoe and sledgehammers to dig three to four feet down and break open the pipe to free him. The man, whose reason for entering the drainage system remains unknown, was ultimately extracted around 4 a.m. Tuesday and transported to a hospital in stable condition. The collaborative effort involved technical rescue teams and mutual aid from surrounding communities. Authorities have not released further details about the man’s condition or why he entered the pipe.
