India Announce Test Squad; Jadeja Named Vice-Captain
The BCCI announced a 15-player India Test squad for the two-match series against the West Indies, naming Shubman Gill captain and Ravindra Jadeja vice-captain with Rishabh Pant absent due to injury. Selectors dropped Karun Nair and brought in Devdutt Padikkal, recalled Axar Patel to join a spin-heavy group including Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna head the pace unit; Dhruv Jurel is the first-choice wicketkeeper with N. Jagadeesan as backup and Nitish Kumar Reddy also included. Several players from the England series, such as Shardul Thakur, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Arshdeep Singh, were left out. Most outlets report the two Tests will start Oct. 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and conclude Oct. 10 in Delhi, though one report cited different November dates.
