Alonso's Steering Issue Highlights Aston Martin Struggles

Fernando Alonso experienced a dramatic incident during the second practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix when his steering wheel detached from his Aston Martin. The two-time world champion reported the issue to his team, noting that the steering wheel display had gone blank and was switching off, before it completely detached as he approached the final corner. He was able to reattach it and return to the pits, where the team replaced parts of the steering system. Despite the repair, Alonso finished the session in 15th place, expressing concerns about the team's competitiveness for the weekend. His teammate, Lance Stroll, also struggled, finishing 19th, and Aston Martin is currently underperforming, sitting seventh in the constructors' standings. Alonso remains hopeful for improvements as he continues the season but acknowledges the challenges ahead with the current car setup.
