Rory McIlroy aims for fifth Truist Championship title at Philly Cricket Club

The Truist Championship, a PGA Tour signature event, is being held this year at the Wissahickon Course of the Philadelphia Cricket Club, marking a departure from its usual venue at Quail Hollow, which is preparing to host the upcoming PGA Championship. Rory McIlroy, fresh off his historic Masters victory that completed his career grand slam, headlines a strong field that includes four of the world's top five players, though World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is sitting out after his recent record-tying win. Despite being the defending champion with four previous Truist wins, McIlroy acknowledges that playing on a new course makes it feel less like a traditional title defense. The Wissahickon Course, a challenging par-70 layout designed by A.W. Tillinghast, is hosting its first PGA Tour event, and most of the elite 70-player field are experiencing it for the first time. McIlroy, who has also won the Players Championship and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this year, expressed enthusiasm about returning to competition and exploring new venues. The event features a $20 million purse and is seen as a key tune-up before the season's second major.
