Prince's Purple Rain Musical Premieres in Minneapolis

The highly anticipated stage musical adaptation of Prince's iconic film and album Purple Rain is set to premiere at Minneapolis' State Theatre from April 10 to May 11, 2025, with an official opening night on April 30. The production boasts a creative team that includes a story by Prince, a book by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, music and lyrics by Prince, and direction by Lileana Blain-Cruz. Former Prince bandmates Morris Hayes and Bobby Z have joined as music advisors, ensuring the show's authenticity and honoring Prince's legacy. The musical will hold open casting call auditions in Minneapolis, and the creative team will participate in a panel discussion during the pre-Broadway run.
