Ingka Group Acquires AI Logistics Firm Locus to Enhance Ikea Delivery

Ingka Group, the largest franchisee of IKEA, has acquired U.S.-based logistics technology company Locus to strengthen IKEA's digital capabilities and improve its home delivery services. Locus provides an AI-powered logistics management platform offering advanced route optimization, real-time tracking, and efficient vehicle and resource utilization, which will enhance efficiency across IKEA's supply chain from capacity management to last-mile delivery. This acquisition marks a strategic shift as IKEA transitions from relying on multiple third-party providers to bringing critical logistics technology in-house, enabling faster and more flexible deliveries to meet growing online sales, which now account for 28% of IKEA's retail sales. Locus will continue to operate independently while expanding its services globally, supporting IKEA's ambition to build a smarter and more sustainable distribution network. The integration of Locus complements prior technology investments by Ingka Group, such as the acquisition of Made4net and TaskRabbit, further advancing the company's digital transformation and fulfillment capabilities. Both IKEA and Locus emphasize that this partnership preserves Locus's operational independence while unlocking resources for global growth and innovation.
