Reds Select Right-Hander Zach Maxwell From Triple-A

The Cincinnati Reds have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Zach Maxwell from Triple-A Louisville, marking his MLB debut. Maxwell, a 24-year-old sixth-round pick from Georgia Tech in 2022, has posted a 4.17 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with 59 strikeouts and 32 walks over 49.2 innings in Triple-A during the 2025 season. Despite his strong fastball that can reach 102 mph and a plus-plus slider/cutter, command issues have led to a high walk rate, though he has shown some improvement. The roster move also involved transferring fellow right-hander Ian Gibaut, sidelined with a shoulder impingement, to the 60-day injured list to open space.
