Inglewood Man Charged With Killing Two Men Met on Dating App
Rockim Prowell, a 34-year-old man from Inglewood, California, has been charged with murdering two men and attempting to kill a third after meeting them through an online dating app, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The victims, Miguel Angel King and Robert Gutierrez, were killed in 2021 and 2023 respectively, with forensic evidence linking Prowell to the crimes, including the recovery of victims' vehicles—one found near Prowell’s home and the other in his garage. The third victim survived after being bound and beaten with a baseball bat, though Prowell later struck him with a car, breaking his leg, as the victim tried to escape. Prosecutors described Prowell’s acts as predatory and displaying a total disregard for life, and noted that financial motive was apparent as the suspect stole cars and wallets from the victims. Prowell was already on probation for multiple burglaries at the time of the murders, and he faces charges including murder with special circumstances, carjacking, burglary, and assault with a deadly weapon. He is held on a $2 million bail, and prosecutors have yet to decide whether to seek the death penalty.
