Global EV Industry Calls for Cooperation

At the 'Earth Again' Conference in Bhubaneswar, entrepreneurs emphasized the need for increased research and development (R&D) in electric vehicles (EVs) to promote sustainability and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Amitabh Saran from Altigreen highlighted that simplicity will drive EV adoption, while also addressing safety concerns linked to software issues rather than hardware. Similarly, Abinash Samal pointed out the importance of recycling units to enhance self-sufficiency in EV manufacturing. In Europe, policymakers are adapting regulations to manage foreign investments, particularly from Chinese EV producers, ensuring they benefit local economies without compromising market integrity. This movement aligns with a global push for cooperation against rising protectionism in the EV sector, as articulated by industry leaders at the World New Energy Vehicle Congress. The International Energy Agency projects that electricity must represent a larger share of global energy consumption to meet net-zero targets by 2050.
