Bedrock Unveils Detroit Innovation District Plans

Bedrock has unveiled plans to transform the stalled Wayne County Criminal Justice Center site in downtown Detroit into a 14-acre Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Life Sciences District. Central to this development will be a 220,000-square-foot Life Science Innovation Building, which aims to house organizations such as BAMF Health, Michigan Innovation Headquarters, Ferris State University, and Wayne State University. Construction is set to begin in 2025, with the building expected to pioneer new medical treatments and foster innovation in precision technology and personalized medicine. Bedrock CEO Kofi Bonner emphasized the project's potential to enhance Detroit's knowledge economy and community for future generations. The initiative is seen as a critical step towards establishing a hub for life sciences and technology in the region. BAMF Health plans to occupy a significant portion of the building, focusing on cancer treatment and research.
