Met Gala Raises Record $31 Million for Costume Institute

The 2025 Met Gala broke fundraising records by generating $31 million for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, marking the event’s highest total in its 77-year history. This year’s gala was themed 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' spotlighting three centuries of Black fashion and dandyism and co-curated by Andrew Bolton and Monica Miller. The event featured a diverse lineup of co-chairs, including A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, and LeBron James—who was absent due to injury but represented by his wife, Savannah James. Notable attendees included Kamala Harris and Rihanna, who revealed her third pregnancy on the red carpet. Donations from high-profile individuals and organizations, such as Tyler Perry, George Lucas, Instagram, and Africa Fashion International, contributed to the record-breaking sum. Individual tickets cost $75,000 and tables started at $350,000, with all proceeds supporting the Costume Institute’s exhibitions, acquisitions, and operations.
