McAfee has launched Scam Detector, an AI-powered tool integrated into all core McAfee plans at no extra cost, designed to combat the rising tide of sophisticated online scams across text, email, and video. The tool uses advanced AI to analyze the full content of messages and videos—including phrasing and context—not just URLs, achieving over 99% accuracy in text scam detection and 96% in deepfake video identification. Scam Detector is customizable with adjustable protection levels and supports real-time scanning on mobile devices across various apps and platforms such as iMessage, WhatsApp, Gmail, and more. This launch responds to increasing scam attempts, with Americans facing an average of 14 scam attempts daily, and significant financial losses totaling billions annually. McAfee's Keep it Real campaign, supported by FightCybercrime.org, aims to raise awareness and reduce stigma around scam victimization, empowering users to protect themselves amid growing AI-driven scam sophistication. By consolidating multiple scam protections into one service, McAfee seeks to offer comprehensive and user-friendly defense against scams that have become more personalized and harder to detect.
