Perenco Completes Acquisition of Woodside Offshore Assets in Trinidad and Tobago
Perenco has finalized its $206 million acquisition of the Greater Angostura oil and gas assets from Woodside Energy in Trinidad and Tobago, solidifying its position as a major oil and gas producer in the country. The deal includes two Woodside Energy entities, interests in the 2(C) and 3(A) production sharing contracts, and the operatorship of an onshore terminal, with the offshore fields producing about 300 million standard cubic feet per day or 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, representing roughly 12% of Trinidad and Tobago's natural gas production. This acquisition, combined with Perenco’s existing fields including Teak, Samaan, Poui (TSP), and Cashima, Amherstia, Flamboyant, and Immortelle (CAFI), will increase Perenco’s gross production to over 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and enhance its gross gas production base to more than 500 million standard cubic feet per day. Perenco CEO Armel Simondin emphasized the company's commitment to developing energy resources, contributing to economic growth, and ensuring safety and environmental sustainability. Woodside retains its interest in the deepwater Calypso field, which is not included in this transaction. The acquisition strengthens Perenco’s partnership with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and leverages its expertise in mature field assets to secure long-term production from the Angostura asset.
