Man Charged with Murder in Ryan Staggs Case

Murphy Henry, 54, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Ryan Staggs, who disappeared in January 2022 and was found dead in a shallow grave in Lincoln County. Authorities uncovered what they believe are Staggs' remains after persistent investigation, which included the use of cadaver dogs and execution of a search warrant at a residence linked to the case. Henry is also charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence, and he is currently held in the Lincoln County Jail. His arrest follows another suspect, Jack Baird, who was arrested for abuse of a corpse after witnesses reported seeing him digging in Staggs' backyard shortly after he went missing. The Lincoln County District Attorney's Cold Case Unit has been actively pursuing leads in this investigation, which remains ongoing. The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office is working to confirm the identity of the remains.
