Funeral Home Owner Guilty in Capitol Riot Assaults

Peter Moloney, a former funeral home co-owner from Bayport, New York, pleaded guilty to charges related to his role in the January 6th, 2021 Capitol riot. Moloney admitted to using a can of wasp killer to spray police officers and assaulting two journalists, including an Associated Press photographer. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 11, facing a maximum of eight years for the felony charge and one year for the misdemeanor. Moloney expressed regret for his actions and has agreed to pay restitution for damages caused. The plea agreement includes assaults on officers and damage to media equipment. His sentencing will be presided over by U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols.
