Paramount+ Premieres Hip Hop Origin Docuseries July 22
Paramount+ is set to premiere a new five-episode docuseries titled "Hip Hop Was Born Here" on July 22, co-created and executive produced by rapper LL Cool J and former NFL player Peyton Manning. The series, hosted by LL Cool J, chronicles the creation, evolution, and ongoing legacy of hip hop as both a genre and culture, with a focus on its roots in New York City. Featuring interviews with iconic artists such as Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh, Method Man, Rev Run, Jadakiss, and Salt of Salt-N-Pepa, the show offers an in-depth look at the neighborhoods, studios, and early styles that shaped hip hop's rise. The docuseries also explores how hip hop expanded into a global phenomenon, with artists reflecting on its cultural impact and personal significance. Peyton Manning highlighted the parallels between music and sports, emphasizing the importance of the story, while LL Cool J guides viewers through this historical and musical journey. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Rock The Bells, and Omaha Productions and will be available internationally shortly after the U.S. premiere.
