Gang Sentenced for £7M Crystal Meth Smuggling Operation

A criminal gang has been jailed after smuggling over £7 million worth of crystal meth and high-strength cannabis into Nottinghamshire from the United States, disguising the drugs as weight loss shakes and other innocuous items. The operation, described as the largest-ever crystal meth seizure by Nottinghamshire Police, was uncovered when a suspicious parcel was intercepted at Stansted Airport in May 2023. Ringleader Davante James, along with several associates, used social media to flaunt their wealth, which was funded by the illicit drug trade. The gang exploited personal relationships to have parcels delivered to unsuspecting recipients, using shipping labels for items like furniture and clothing to conceal their contents. Profits from the operation were used to fund luxury holidays, designer goods, and high-value jewelry. The investigation, which involved cooperation with U.S. authorities, culminated in the conviction and sentencing of multiple gang members.
