Concurrently, Odisha's police forces have heightened coastal security measures, increasing patrols and surveillance to avert any infiltration from Bangladesh, where unrest has led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar emphasized the importance of preventing illegal immigration, especially through the state’s extensive coastline. He noted that criminal elements may attempt to cross into India amid the chaos. The Odisha government has directed superintendents of police in coastal districts to monitor entry routes closely while also engaging with the Coast Guard and Navy for enhanced vigilance. Overall, both organizations are concerned about the potential ramifications of the unrest in Bangladesh on India’s security and stability.
