Randy Farrell Indicted on Bribery Charges in New Orleans

Randy Farrell, a former New Orleans city inspector, has been indicted on 25 counts, including conspiracy, wire fraud, and honest services fraud, for allegedly providing gifts to Mayor LaToya Cantrell in exchange for favorable actions. The indictment claims that Farrell accepted bribes to allow unlicensed electricians to work on numerous homes and to facilitate fraudulent inspections. Prosecutors also allege that Farrell attempted to have Jennifer Cecil, a city employee investigating his practices, fired. While Cantrell is referred to as 'Public Official 1' in the indictment, unnamed sources confirm her identity as the recipient of Farrell's gifts. Farrell's previous legal troubles include a guilty plea to federal tax charges and ongoing contractor fraud allegations. His attorney has stated that they will plead not guilty and contest the charges against him.
