Which? Survey Ranks Bognor Regis Worst, Bamburgh Best UK Seaside Towns
A recent survey by Which? has ranked the UK’s best and worst seaside towns, highlighting Bamburgh in Northumberland as the top coastal destination for the fifth consecutive year due to its excellent beaches, scenery, and peaceful atmosphere. In contrast, Bognor Regis in West Sussex was named the worst seaside town, receiving low scores for food, value for money, and scenery, despite local residents defending its charm and seaside attractions. Clacton-on-Sea also ranked poorly, scoring low in beach quality, food, and tourist attractions, though some visitors praise it for its sandy beaches and family-friendly amenities. Other traditionally popular seaside towns like Brighton, Margate, Skegness, and Blackpool also fared badly in the survey, reflecting a shift in public opinion. The survey considered factors such as beach quality, food and drink, accommodation, and overall satisfaction, with more than 3,800 Which? members participating. The findings suggest that while some hidden gems continue to attract positive attention, several well-known seaside resorts are struggling to meet visitor expectations.
