Hornets Sign Veteran Center Mason Plumlee to One-Year Deal
Veteran center Mason Plumlee has signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract to return to the Charlotte Hornets, marking his second stint with the team after playing there from 2021 to 2023. Last season with the Phoenix Suns, Plumlee appeared in 74 games, averaging 4.5 points and 6.1 rebounds while starting 21 contests before being replaced by Nick Richards following midseason trades. The Hornets recently traded away centers Mark Williams and Jusuf Nurkic, creating a need for frontcourt depth that Plumlee is expected to fill alongside Moussa Diabate and rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner. Throughout his 13-year NBA career, Plumlee has played for multiple teams including Brooklyn, Portland, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles Clippers, and Phoenix. He is known for his veteran presence and versatility, and his return to Charlotte comes amid significant roster changes involving frontcourt players between the Hornets and Suns. Additionally, Plumlee has engaged in community efforts, such as a recent donation to a hurricane relief organization in Western North Carolina.
