Poland Arrests 32 Suspected Russian Sabotage Agents
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the detention of 32 individuals from multiple countries, including Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Colombia, suspected of collaborating with Russian intelligence to carry out acts of sabotage. Among the suspects is a Colombian man accused of orchestrating two arson attacks in Poland and one in the Czech Republic, who was trained by Russian operatives and has been sentenced to prison for terrorism in the Czech Republic while facing up to life imprisonment in Poland. Only one suspect has been convicted so far, with the others awaiting trial. The arrests reflect Poland's ongoing struggle against Russian hybrid warfare tactics aimed at destabilizing countries supporting Ukraine, including sabotage, disinformation, and arson. Tusk emphasized that these threats are persistent and recognized as a permanent danger by the US, NATO, and European allies. Poland's role as a key logistics hub for Western aid to Kyiv makes it a primary target for such Russian covert operations.
