Severe storms swept through parts of New England on Saturday, causing widespread power outages and property damage. In New Hampshire, strong thunderstorms toppled trees and branches, leading to temporary road closures and displacing some residents, with over 6,000 customers losing electricity at the peak. Western Massachusetts experienced nearly 3,100 outages mainly in Easthampton, reported by Eversource and National Grid. Connecticut saw thousands of outages, with Eversource reporting more than 5,800 outages at one point, primarily affecting Meriden, Stonington, North Canaan, Plainville, and Salisbury; northern Connecticut counties such as Litchfield and towns like North Canaan and Enfield were notably impacted. Authorities cautioned residents to avoid downed power lines and prepare emergency kits, while utility companies worked to restore service.
